Meet our @isuhabitat4humanity volunteer James ❤️💛 When asked “why do you volunteer”? Here is what he said. I enjoy volunteering with HFH because it's a great way to give back to the community. It's so easy to just give up a few hours of your day and see the impact it has on families. I've made some great friends through HFH and I always walk away with a feeling of accomplishment and gratitude. Repeatedly they fundraise, volunteer, and show up ready to work for this community. This past Saturday they showed up to start work on our new house project locate on 10th St. Thanks to a generous grant from #statefarm and the #heretohelp campaign, we are busy turning this dilapidated house into a beautiful home for a very deserving family.

When the plant is potted all we see are the leaves and blooms, often missing the many roots connected below. Those roots don't get much praise but they are life-giving. As we prepare to start work on another house here at Habitat for Humanity of Central Iowa, we are reminded of the strong roots that keep us growing as a non-profit. The generosity of our donors, the success of our store, the faithful volunteers that show up each day are our strong roots. We are committed to never forget the roots that hold us together.
